Free Speech Zone Productions is a collective of young composers and filmmakers dedicated to presenting concerts of compelling new music and film to broad audiences in venues ranging from clubs to concert halls. Founders Judd Greenstein, David T. Little and Missy Mazzoli are united in their belief that music can inform, provoke, and inspire change, and seek to present music that speaks directly to the human experience in an era marked by anger and fear. In November of 2005 they joined forces with NOW Ensemble and Newspeak on the critically-acclaimed Free Speech Zone Tour and presented concerts in New York, New Haven and Boston. The 2006-2007 season features a variety of shows around New York City, bringing new musicians into the fold and expanding the possibilities and limits for socially-conscious music in the city. Next season, Free Speech Zone will present (in)visible, a new production that combines elements of concert music, documentary film and theater.
